I just received an advanced copy of Tom Angleberger's newest book Horton Halfpott!  After I selfishly devour it myself, I will offer it as a read aloud during lunch.  I am very excited!!!

Knuffle Bunny Free: An Unexpected Diversion, but Mo Willems E WIL (2 copies!)

This appears to be the last of the Knuffle Bunny books... I read it and then sat at my desk and cried.  So sweet... especially if you are a parent. While traveling with her family to Holland to visit her grandparents, Trixie once again loses her beloved Knuffle Bunny.

This book has appeared on several mock Newbery lists...  A must read, for sure!

Ghost Dog Secrets by Peg Kehret F KEH

She writes such great ghost stories for kids!  I hope this one is creepy... it is very short. Sixth-grader Rusty, determined to help an injured dog that is chained outdoors in frigid weather, calls animal control then takes matters into his own hands, aided by his best friend and a ghost collie that leads Rusty to an even deeper secret. Includes instructions for knitting cat blankets.

The Lightning Thief Graphic Novel, by Rick Riordan F RIO (3 copies!)

A graphic novel adaptation of "The Lightning Thief" in which Percy, expelled from six schools for being unable to control his temper, learns the truth from his mother that his father is the Greek god Poseidon, and is sent to Camp Half Blood, a special camp to prepare him to stop a war among the gods.

The Lost Hero, by Rick Riordan F RIO (4 copies!)

Does this man ever sleep??  How can he write so many successful books that are more than 500 pages each?!  Jason, Piper, and Leo, three students from a school for "bad kids," find themselves at Camp Half-Blood, where they learn that they are demigods and begin a quest to free Hera, who has been imprisoned by Mother Earth herself. 

Penny Dreadful, by Laurel Snyder F SNY

I read her book Any Which Wall that is set in Iowa City & loved it!  I can't wait to read this one! When her father suddenly quits his job, the almost-ten-year-old, friendless Penny and her neglectful parents leave their privileged life in the city for a ramshackle property in the eccentric town of Thrush Junction, Tennessee.

Havoc, by Chris Wooding F WOO

The sequel to Malice: Seth, having managed to escape from Malice, a world that exists within a frightening comic book, is desperate to save Kady, who remains trapped, but cannot figure out the best way to mount a rescue attempt; while Kady searches for Havoc, a rebel group of kids who want to fight Malice's cruel overlord, Tall Jake, and stop his influence from spreading beyond the comic book world.
