You can get your vote on right here.

Vote Snow

I have always liked Donald Sutherland, but after March 23rd, I may not.

Smart Girls!

Belle & Rapunzel have always been my favorite Disney Princess because they love to read. Look at what they are reading these days!

Mama Likey!

Does anyone know how to make these AWESOME book purses I found on Etsy??!?!?!?

What Super Bowl?

This is the only reason I would watch the Super Bowl... the new Hunger Games trailer will play during this year's game. Goosebumps!

Always The Tribute... Never The Victor

The fire is spreading! A little over a month and The Hunger Games move will be in theaters! I am so excited, and so are my students (even the ones who haven't read the trilogy!) Today during library, we played some very challenging Tribute Games to see if we have what it takes to survive in the arena. Sadly, I have played these several times and have failed to survive. I am a chicken. I would never make it in the arena. I would dig a  hole and hide. They would still find me. How about you? Could you go head to head in the arena? Are you CUNNING, SMART, FAST and COURAGEOUS? Take the test and see! Let me know if you succeed! (But don't spoil the game by giving too much away!)

2 Late 4 Xmas?

Thanks Sarah (AKA @Pageintraining) for making me feel awesome and awful at the same time.
1. Awesome: I want this. I want this now. I will have this.
2. Awful: I have mixed feelings about a "movie poster" ad for reading.
3. Awesome: I need this. I need this now. My library needs this. I will have this.
4. Awful: The kids really need to picture these characters for themselves.
5.Awesome: I love this. I love this now. My kids will love this. I will have this.
6. Awful: They are too clean and pretty. I don't think anyone, beside those in The Capital, looked this pretty.

Where is Gale?

A new Hunger Games movie poster! Eeeek!
I am on Team Gale, so it is very hard for me to see all this Peeta nonsense. I still think (SPOILER!) that Katniss should have ended up with Gale. And another thing... these people are just so darn pretty. In my mind, they weren't perfect gods and goddesses... they were real- but that is Hollywood. As much as I complain about the movie adaptation (and I've been pretty positive thus far!) I will be there at 12:00 on March 23! Will you?

Fire is Catching!

I can't believe I haven't posted the character posters for The Hunger Games! Instead of posting them separately, I put them into a collage in Picnik. Enjoy!

Keep Calm and...

Super Student Addy shared this with me today! Boy does she know me!
This may be printed and hanging in the library on Monday!

Be Careful What You Ask For!

The story you are about to read is true.  The face of our victim has been altered to protect her identity. Iowa City, Iowa: a sixth grade girl, we will call her "Abby" is preparing for her birthday. Her loving grandmother asks her what she would like as a gift. Abby tells her she would like a Hunger Games tshirt.
Flash forward to said birthday.
The party.
The cake.
The merriment.
The presents.
Yes, the presents.
Grandma gives Abby the gift that she had requested, a gift that she made with love in every stitch.
She gave Abby a Hungry Games tshirt...

The evidence:
The verdict:
Grandmas are awesome.

TEASER not TRAILER!

TEASER:Slang An attention-getting vignette or highlight presented before the start of a television show.
TRAILER: A short filmed advertisement for a movie; a preview.
This, my readers is a teaser, not a trailer. Be patient.

I Might Faint...

Updated... I hate embedding things in my blog that make noise- it is so annoying to viewers. So, I have put up a still of the post and you can go to this site to see the real deal!

Typing Games

This is a groovy little typing game from the BBC!  It's like being at a typing rave!  This is a full scale typing program that starts with home row keys and works through a series of lessons.

In this typing game, you are a cute little spider who must escape predators in the jungle.  You have to type accurately if you want to escape!

Do you have what it takes to be a great chef?  You move up from dish washer to 4 star chef as you practice your touch typing.

Go for the gold as you practice your keyboarding skills!  The faster you type, the faster you run!  Represent the USA and type your way to Olympic Gold!

Type Type Revolution
Like Dance Dance Revolution, you have to type the correct keys to the beat.  If you don't miss, you get a combo and that is worth lots of points.  This game is hard- even for me!

KeyMan
This PacMan game is controlled by correct typing.

Typing Adventure
Type quickly and accurately to get the explorer safely through the traps and to the treasures... a little like Indiana Jones!

Spacebar Invaders
Like Space Invaders from my day on the Atari, you have to type to destroy rows of alien invaders.  This one gave me a good challenge!

Let's show a little district pride for a change, Miss Everdeen. Hm?

"District 12, where you can starve to death in safety."
-Katniss Everdeen

I have 3 girls who are as obsessed with THG as I have been,  Sami even said to me "I hate you for introducing me to these books!  I can't move on- everything I hear reminds me of them."  I am sure that all 3 of these girls would have loved to star as Katniss in THG movie coming out next year.  We have all been dreading the announcement of the actress that will play Katniss.  I sense a little disappointment with the selection of Jennifer Lawrence- she wasn't a top pick for any of us. With that said, I do wish her luck- she has big shoes to fill!  I am not one to watch book to movie adaptations, but we will see...
Here are some pictures of my THG fanatics!  I am really going to miss these smiling faces next year!

I've got to get this shirt!

How cool is THIS cake?!?!?
