My rules?
1. All content must be appropriate for children in grades kindergarten through eighth grade.
2. Please link to your original content, not the content of others.
3. Websites that you link to must be child friendly since lots of kids visit this site and if they click on your link, I want it to be appropriate for them.
4. Positive reviews only, please... we only spread love here at The Lemme Library!
5. Books must be available in The US. (you are welcome to link to ARC reviews)
6. I reserve the right to remove any reviews that don't meet criteria 1-5.
In the link title field, be sure to include the title of the book you are reviewing and your site name. In the URL field, please link to this specific post that contains the book review (That way people don't have to scour your blog looking for it!)

Wow. Thank you to all of the loyal book Talk Tuesday posters who have continued to post week after week. The last 2 weeks, we have had record low response to Book Talk Tuesday. I am thinking it is my blog name change. It just so happens that the week I went from The Lemme Library to The Book Butcher, the response was very low. The next week, more links but not the usually 22+ we usually get.
I feel like The Artist Formerly Know as Prince. I am now The Book Butcher (formerly The Lemme Library). I am starting to regret my name change. I love my new name, but worry that I may have lost some viewers along the way. In the grand scheme of things, viewers don't matter- they will find their way back or I will get new viewers... I don't blog to get viewers I guess. I blog for me and my students, but it's nice to know that people in the world actually look at what I post. Do you have any advice for me as I ride out the waves of a name change? Are you interested in the number if viewers your blog has? How do you increase your blog traffic?

Happy reading everyone!
ReplyDeleteSorry I've missed the last few weeks...was on vacation...nothing to do with your name change! :)
ReplyDeleteFebruary is one crazy, crazy month. I feel like I need an arrow through my head, like Steve Martin! So, don't jump to conclusions that your change in blog name is what created the low turnout. Last week was also a holiday week, so that might have led to it. Bravo on taking the leap!
ReplyDeleteHey Kelly,
ReplyDeleteJust sent a post about several good books. As Colby says, "Happy reading, everyone!"
Nothin' to do with the name change ... just a rotten case of a stomach flu with a miracle weekend in between. :X
ReplyDeleteI like knowing that people enjoy what I've shared. But I haven't figured out a great way to increase traffic other than getting some stuff on Pinterest. (Do you even know what a geek thrill it was when someone ELSE pinned something first? I mean, it was still fun when people repinned something I made but it was cooler when someone else did it first.) I think you do a good job of it with like BTT. Your numbers are higher than mine so really I'm asking you. How do you do it? ;]
I'm such a fan of Book Talk Tuesday; I don't know why I hadn't posted before! Thanks for doing this all, Kelly :-)
ReplyDeleteOkay, I did that wrong. I reviewed Regarding the Fountain by Kate Klise and M. Sarah Klise. Please check out the review. I loved this book!

I think I did that right now. I love the new name. I think you are still coming to my Google Reader, but I am going to check to make sure.

Thought I'd drop in and leave a link
ReplyDeleteWhew - I know that many have linked to Wonder reviews before, but this was the week I used it as my classroom "Book of the Week".
ReplyDeleteA student grabbed it out of my hands, I barely even got time to finish talking!
It seems to be a really busy time of year for a lot of people. Give things a bit more time.
ReplyDeleteThis Dark Endeavor is a prequel to Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, which could be an interesting read leading young adults to this classic tale.
ReplyDeleteI knew something was different! Why did you decide to change your name? Also, the book my student reviewed was The Friendship Doll, I forgot to add that! I use to think I wanted to blog for traffic but when I did, I lost my blogging mojo and haven't really gotten it back...Just keep blogging for you and your students! If you build it, they will come!
ReplyDeleteHi, thanks for hosting, as always. I am home with a broken ankle - a week in the hospital, and then a week on bed rest. Been doing lots of reading and tweeting, but haven't had the urge to post a book talk. I will try to post one this week. I really enjoy being part of this, Kelly.
ReplyDeleteHope all's well with you,
Sarah
PS: Regarding the name change - I love it! You have not lost followers and you will still come up on a google search under the old name. Gradually it will be as if it's always been "book butcher" - so clever!
