Book Talk Tuesday 2012

I have been searching the web for a great place to post book reviews for librarians and teachers to use in the classroom. Well, I am going to try hosting my own Book Talk Tuesday! I invite teachers and librarians to link to a recent book talk or book review that can be used by others- to help purchase new books, learn about new books and to help give us book talk ideas.

My rules?
1. All content must be appropriate for children in grades kindergarten through eighth grade.
2. Please link to your original content, not the content of others.
3. Websites that you link to must be child friendly since lots of kids visit this site and if they click on your link, I want it to be appropriate for them.
4. Positive reviews only, please... we only spread love here at The Lemme Library!
5. Books must be available in The US. (you are welcome to link to ARC reviews)
6. I reserve the right to remove any reviews that don't meet criteria 1-5.
In the link title field, be sure to include the title of the book you are reviewing and your site name. In the URL field, please link to this specific post that contains the book review (That way people don't have to scour your blog looking for it!)

Only 24 hours in a day. Let's break it down:
2 hours spent getting the kids and myself ready in the morning.
8 hours working (I may spend 30 minutes reading over lunch!)
3 hours spent getting home, getting snack, making dinner.
2 hours spent cleaning up dinner and doing nightly bedtime routines.
2 hours spent how I'd like them... on a good night it's 2, spent cleaning, shopping, watching tv, blogging, twittering, guitar lessons, and reading
7 hours spent sleeping... usually less.
Yesterday I spent the entire day with my face in a book. My kids could barely get my attention. We had cereal for dinner. Yes, cereal for dinner. I just couldn't stop reading. I HAD to get to the end of the book I was reading (The Knife of Never Letting Go) I had to see the characters safely to the end of the book. It was my duty. I had to know how it was going to end- and if that meant feeding my children cereal for dinner, I still had to do it. I finished the book on Sunday morning. Then I started another one. (Wonder) and guess what? I couldn't stop reading! I didn't watch the Super Bowl but I did manage to feed my children.  There are not enough hours in the day for all of the good books in the world. I wish for 1 year nobody would publish anything new so I could have 365 days to catch up. How do you find the time? Yes, I read while I stir dinner, yes I read while I am waiting for my Cinnamon Dolce Latte... but I am greedy! I want to READ ALL THE BOOKS! Do you feel me? Tell us about it! Then link to your book talk!! May be link to a really terrible book so I won't be compelled to read it!!!

  1. This sounds great. Thank you for sending the link to me. When I come across one that is age appropriate, I'll link it!

  2. Thanks for sending me the link. I need to get myself back into blogging all the great stuff I'm reading! And I feel ya...there are SO many fantastic books out there still waiting for my hands to pick them up!

  3. Right now I read during piano lessons and after the kids' bedtime, but I try to read at least a little bit in front of the kids so they know I don't just read children's books.

  4. I read after work and sometimes in the morning when I first get up. I very rarely pick up a book to read during school hour. Today I had to force myself to leave before I pounced the box of books that arrived.

  5. Hi Kelly, I do feel you! Hahaha. I haven't started the Chaos Walking Trilogy yet because I have a feeling i'd be exactly like you and I won't get anything done with my work in the university. Oh dear oh dear. Hahaha. It's good that husband does the cooking, leaving me relatively free to do my blogging/reading/writing in quiet. :)

  6. I've found myself telling people that I'm really stressed out. When they ask why, is it work?, home? -I have to say, "No. It's my TBR pile. It's out of control!" Hopefully I can put a dent on it during the midwinter break.

  7. I read in the evenings, but I find that I have to make myself stop with the online time in order to do so. It's so easy to read "just one more blog or tweet". I'd love a good snow day to stay home and do nothing but read!

  8. I generally stick to the types of posts requested w- link-ups, but I shared a post that is not a book review this time. I will not feel slighted if you remove my International Book Giving Day post. Hope you are having a good week!
