Book Talk Tuesday 2012

I have been searching the web for a great place to post book reviews for librarians and teachers to use in the classroom. Well, I am going to try hosting my own Book Talk Tuesday! I invite teachers and librarians to link to a recent book talk or book review that can be used by others- to help purchase new books, learn about new books and to help give us book talk ideas.

My rules?
1. All content must be appropriate for children in grades kindergarten through eighth grade.
2. Please link to your original content, not the content of others.
3. Websites that you link to must be child friendly since lots of kids visit this site and if they click on your link, I want it to be appropriate for them.
4. Positive reviews only, please... we only spread love here at The Lemme Library!
5. Books must be available in The US. (you are welcome to link to ARC reviews)
6. I reserve the right to remove any reviews that don't meet criteria 1-5.
In the link title field, be sure to include the title of the book you are reviewing and your site name. In the URL field, please link to this specific post that contains the book review (That way people don't have to scour your blog looking for it!)

So far this year, I am off to a pretty steady start on my reading. I have read 3 chapter books so far, and that keeps me on track to read 100 by 2013. It is so hard to find time to read. Working all day, coming home to a home, 2 kids and all that goes along with that... it is hard to eek out that little amount of time. So now I read over my lunch (half) hour, I read while the girls play after dinner and I read after they go to bed. I need to keep a book with me for lines and trains and waits. I miss the computer, honestly. I haven't read many of the blogs in my reader and I have fallen behind in the blogs I read regularly. Pinterest is probably wondering if I have fallen off the face of the earth. The payoff will be well worth it. I love that it is only the 1st full week of school and I already have 3 new books to book talk!  I have to walk the walk with my students and not just talk the talk! How are you finding time for all of this reading? Let us know!! Be sure to visit the links below, check out their book talks & reviews and leave a comment!

  1. I agree it is difficult to find time to read. I have a full-time job in high-tech and two small kids. I keep my Kindle with me, which helps for those dead times when I can sneak in 10-15mins during the day. Else I read before going to bed almost every night. I wish I could read more, maybe when my kids get older.

  2. When my eldest got his license last spring, one of the unexpected and beloved consequences was that I can now ride the bus to work a lot more. Each day I ride gives me an extra 45 minutes of reading!

  3. One of the upsides to using public transportation is more reading time.

  4. I read a bit after school while the kids are winding down and always at night either while the kids are playing or after they go to bed. I need to do better about listening to books -- especially since I run 4 days a week!

  5. Time. OH, time. And I do not even have kids. I wish there were more of it. More time to read. More time to blog stalk. More time to Pin. Good luck and keep it up! I'm behind but I was thinking about lowering my goal anyway. Read slower and enjoy more.

  6. I definitely have to "walk the walk with my students.". Thank goodness I'm an insomniac--I get my reading done in the middle of the night when the kids are in bed and the dogs are snoring.

  7. I read during my preps and lunches at school and set an hour a night aside to read. It's the only way I can keep up wit the blog, nerdcott, nerdbery, and my other TBR piles!

  8. I agree with finding time yet I also feel like I have to read daily, or I just don't feel "right"!! I am currently reading the Hunger Games series. I am really liking it. I don't know if I would have tried it if I knew what it was about, but now that I have started.. I am utterly and completely hooked. I have gone to bed early a few nights, and stayed in bed extra long on Saturday in order to get some reading time in!!

  9. I love being able to share what I'm reading with my students. I can always find time for a good book. There just seem to be more good books than I have time for!

  10. I thought taking your book to lunch was a great idea. I guess I find the time by making sure I always have a book, and then when I find myself with a free moment, I read. But it is not easy. Less TV. Less Pinterest! Thanks for the mention and for inviting me to participate in your wonderful Book Talk Tuesday. Your blog is great!
