Book Talk Tuesday

The Link list isn't showing up, so I posted the links directly into my post.
I have been searching the web for a great place to post book reviews for librarians and teachers to use in the classroom.  Well, I am going to try hosting my own Book Talk Tuesday!  I invite teachers, moms, dads and librarians to link to a recent book talk or book review that can be used by others.
My rules?
1. All content must be appropriate for children in grades kindergarten through eighth grade.
2. Websites that you link to must be child friendly since lots of kids visit this site and if they click on your link, I want it to be appropriate for them.
3.  Positive reviews only, please... we only spread love here at The Lemme Library!
4.  Books must be available in The US. (you are welcome to link to ARC reviews)
5. I reserve the right to remove any reviews that don't meet criteria 1-4.

In the link title field, be sure to include the title of the book you are reviewing and your site name.  In the URL field, please link to this specific post that contains the book review (That way people don't have to scour your blog looking for it!)
I'd love it if you would leave a comment telling me about yourself!  You are welcome to grab the Book Talk Tuesday graphic to use it on your blog.

  1. Hi, Kelly. As you know, I generally post booklists of my favorite picture books about a variety of subjects at Delightful Children's Books (www.delightfulchildrensbooks.com). When the 2011 Caldecott Award was announced, I made an exception. I wrote a book review about a single book - A Sick Day for Amos McGee. It's a wonderful book. Here's my review. -Amy

  2. Such a nice idea! Thanks for arranging it. I will grab the graphic and post it. Regarding Won Ton: I adore this book, and not just b/c I have cats. I believe even a non-cat lover could appreciate it. Of course, there are a host of writing extensions that lend itself to using it in the classroom, but it would make a lovely, "just because" read as well.

  3. Hi, Kelly. What a wonderful idea! Once a month I recommend a picture book for Maria Hanley (a dance educator in New York) to use in her creative movement classes, I review the book, and she tries it out in class. For March, we featured My Many Colored Days, by Dr. Seuss. I found out it is a very popular book among dance teachers, and I think it would work well in the classroom, too. Happy Book Talk Tuesday!

  4. Our book club met to discuss MOONSHOT: THE FLIGHT OF APOLLO 11. It's a book that captures the sense of wonder and excitement associated with the first lunar landing.

  5. What a wonderful idea this is! I saw this on ProseandKahn's site after I had already posted today's review. I hope you don't mind if I add it to your list anyway. (If not, I understand.)
I'm a mom to three girls: 7,6, and 3. And we read a lot, especially aloud.

  6. Kelly,

Thank you so much for hosting this book chat! I loved reading all the book reviews and seeing what other people recommend and why. Such a neat way to celebrate books and share our love of reading. I will be back next Tuesday and every Tuesday there after for as long as you want to host this!

    Bravo Friend!
